What is Scotia OnLine for Business?

Scotia OnLine for Business is an electronic business banking solution that provides you with access to a wide variety of Cash Management Services to help you maximize the efficiency of your treasure functions. It offers you the flexibility to access your accounts anytime, anywhere. From one central location, you are able to view your consolidated balance and transaction information, transfer funds between accounts, and disburse and collect funds to and from third parties.

What can I do with Scotia OnLine for Business?

With our robust reporting and transactional online capabilities, you have the ability to:

Account Management Services

Secure and cost-effective management, reporting and information services designed to help you control your account. Including information reporting, consolidated cash plan, check reconciliation, stop payments and outbound reporting.

Payable Services

Prepare and process payments electronically to maximize your cash resources. Including direct deposits, disbursements, tax payments, host-to-host payments, healthcare payments and international wire payments.

Receivables Services

Collect funds that owed to your business more quickly efficiently. Including, collections, and bill payments services.

What do I need to sign up for and access Scotia On Line for Business?

In order to sign up for Scotia OnLine for Business, you must have an active Commercial account with Scotiabank.

What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?

MFA consists of verifying and validating the authenticity of your identity using more than one validation mechanism. MFA provides you with an added layer of security and ensures that only you can access your bank accounts.

Why is MFA important?

Due to rapid technological changes, opportunities to obtain another person’s identifying information, and perpetrate identity fraud have increased. We need to employ systems such as MFA that will enable us to prevent potential frauds.

How does MFA work?

When you enrol in MFA, you will select five secret Authentication Questions and submit answers to them. When you login, we will check the computer you are using to access Scotia OnLine for Business. MFA remembers which computer you normally use, giving you additional protection against unauthorized individuals logging into your accounts. If you login from a different computer, we take the additional security step to verify your identity by asking you to provide the answers to three randomly selected authentication questions.

Can I choose not to enrol in MFA?

No, it is mandatory for all Scotiabank’s Internet Banking customers to have an added measure of security. For our Scotia OnLine for Business customers is either MFA or Security Token.

How do I enrol in MFA?

Enrollment in MFA is quick and easy. It should only take you about give minutes to enrol. You will be asked to select five different questions and answers.

What do you mean by ‘enrolled computer’?

An enrolled computer has a unique identifier assigned to it that is only recognized by MFA. Enrolling the computer eliminates the need to answer the Authentication Questions every time you login to Scotia OnLine for Business. Please ensure that you only enroll computers that you use most frequently and avoid enrolling public computers.

Why I am being asked different authentication questions every time I try to login to Scotia OnLine for Business?

If you try to login in from a computer that has not been enrolled, you will be asked to answer three randomly selected Authentication Questions from the five Authentication Questions you previously selected. That means you may be asked different Authentication Questions when you try to login.

Who has access to my account information on Scotia OnLine for Business?

Only authorized users have access to your company’s banking information. Our robust online banking platform allows for you to assign administrators who will be responsible for granting any additional access to your company’s account.  Access to your company users can be limited to specific functionality, based on your preferences.  

As a customer or company user, you must enter your ScotiaCard, password, and MFA or Token (as applicable), that is known only to you. Unless you have compromised your security by revealing your password to someone else, you are the only person with access to your account information using Scotia OnLine for Business.

Can I access my accounts from different computers?

Yes, you can login to Scotia OnLine for Business from any computer. If the computer you are logging from is not enrolled you will be prompted to answer your previously selected Authentication Questions.

What should I do if my ScotiaCard MasterCard Debit is lost or stolen?

If your ScotiaCard MasterCard Debit is lost or stolen, or you suspect that your password has been compromised, or that your account has been or may be accessed by an unauthorized party, call Customer Service immediately or visit your branch.

How do I change my Authentication Questions or Answers?

We will need to validate your personal information, so please contact your Business Service Center at 787-721-9199 or 866-747-2284 / Option #1.

What should I do if I forget the answer to my Authentication Questions?

What happens if I cannot remember my password?

We will need to validate your personal information, so please contact a Scotia OnLine for Business Specialist at the number listed on the Scotiabank Commercial Internet Banking Sign-On page to have your password reset.

What should I do if I am locked out?

We will need to validate your personal information, so please contact your local Business Service Centre.

What is a Scotia OnLine for Business Security Token?

A Security Token is a USB device that provides an increased level of security by adding an extra layer to the user authentication process.

Who are Security Tokens issued to?

Scotia OnLine for Business Security Tokens are issued to company employees who are authorized to approve high-value third-party payments (e.g. Wires, Direct Deposits, Disbursements, etc..) require a Token. Employees who have no authority to initiate, but not approve, such transactions will not need a token. 

Do I need to register my Scotia OnLine for Business Security Token?

Yes, you will need to register your Scotia OnLine for Business Security Token prior to logging to Scotia OnLine for Business for the first time. If you require assistance with your token registration, please contact our Business Service Center at 787-721-9199 or 866-747-2284 / Option #1.

What are the system requirements for Security Token registration?

Do I also require a Password if I am a Security Token user?

Yes, you are also required to set-up and use a password along with your Security Token.

What should I do if I forget my Security Token Password?

You should ask your Company System Administrator(s) to contact our Business Service Center at 787-721-9199 or 866-747-2284 / Option #1, for assistance in resetting you password.

What should I do if I lose my Security Token?

You should ask your Company System Administrator(s) to contact our Business Service Center at 787-721-9199 or 866-747-2284 / Option #1, to de-activate your old token and request that a Security Token to be re-issued.

What should I do if I need to set up a new Security Token user?

Your Company System Administrator can initiate the process of setting up a new user at any time using Scotia OnLine for Business. The Company System Administrator must the contact our Cash Management Service Center to set up the digital certificate and arrange for a token to be shipped to the company, if a spare is not available.

Bill Payments

What types of accounts can I use to pay my bills?

You may use any of your local commercial savings or checking accounts to make your commercial bill payments via Scotia OnLine for Business.

Can I transfer funds from Scotiabank to another bank via Scotia OnLine for Business?

Yes. You can transfer funds to another bank and between your own Scotiabank accounts. Scotia On Line for Business allows companies to generate ACH Payments and Wire transfers. Depending on your company specific needs you can register for the services. How do I get Help?

For help with your computer or Internet service, please call your computer vendor or your Internet service provider. For help while using Scotia On Line for Business, click on the Help button that appears on the right-hand corner of every Scotia On Line for Business screen. General

When can I use Scotia On Line for Business?

Scotia OnLine for Business is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, except for brief intervals when the system is taken offline for maintenance. These maintenance periods are scheduled at times when it is least likely to interfere with your use of the service.

I am having trouble logging on with my ScotiaCard MasterCard Debit and password. What should I do?

Make sure that you are entering your password correctly. Ensure that your keyboard caps or number key is not set to lock. Make sure that you did not accidentally enter spaces when you keyed in your ScotiaCard number. If you continue to have difficulties trying to sign on, contact us at 787-721-9199 or 866-747-2284 / Option #1.

When I try to access the Scotia On Line for Business site, a warning message appears saying that the “security certificate was issued by an unknown authorization” What does this mean?

Does the system automatically log me out when I click Sign-out?

Yes, you are automatically logged out when you click Sign-out or when you close your browser. You will be required to log back on to Scotia On Line for Business if you wish to access your accounts

I have signed up for Scotia On Line for Business in my home country. If I open an account with Scotiabank in another county (i.e. Barbados) will I also be able to access this account via Scotia On Line for Business?

If you wish to access your local accounts held in other Scotiabank location across the Caribbean Region, or held at other Financial Institutions, Scotia OnLine for Business Multi-Country will provide with that single point of access and a consolidated view of your Scotiabank business accounts and other Financial Institutions. Will the information gathered by Scotiabank through my use of its Scotia On Line for Business service be kept confidential?

In keeping with the bank’s policy on customer confidentiality, all customer information submitted to us through the Internet is maintained in strict confidence. Scotiabank does not disclose any customer information unless specifically authorized to do so by you, or where disclosure is required or permitted by law.

Is Scotia OnLine for Business secure?

At Scotiabank, we’re committed to providing you with a secure and protected environment and have several safeguards in place for Scotiabank commercial Scotia OnLine for Business. Scotia OnLine for Business uses industry standard Internet security methods that encrypt or “scramble” the information that passes between your computer and our network. While we take strong measures to ensure the security of your financial transactions and the confidentiality of your information, online security is a partnership. It is extremely important that you also take precautions to ensure that the information on your computer remains safe and secure. Scotiabank will never present you with unexpected webpages or send you unsolicited emails or text messages asking for your confidential information, such as your password, PIN, Access Code, Credit Card, Account Number, etc. we will never ask you to validate or restore your account access through unsolicited emails or text messages.

Do not respond to unsolicited emails, text messages or websites that request personal information. Report any suspicious requests immediately by contact your branch or contact center.
